Betting Limits and Play Expected
to Receive Preferential Treatment
Just what kind of action is expected for free RFB? In the big hotels, a player will have to make $100 bets, minimum, and do this for four hours a day, minimum. That's a lot of action, and for what? A good room, some fancy restaurant meals, and drinks. First of all, a player is better off not drinking while playing, or even after playing; if he drinks to excess he won't be sharp enough the next day. This site is written for the player, not the casino, and at all times i try to protect the player from excesses.
Let's assume that a player wants preferential treatment. He introduces himself to a floorman or a pit boss, or a casino host or hostess. Usually, he already has credit in the casino, or has a large credit line at another casino that can easily be verified. He will usually ask for credit at the casino he is playing in, or he may have cash that he has moved from the safe deposit box of another casino and brought along with him.
Now that he's introduced himself, his play will be watched. As mentioned before, he must play at the amount and with the frequency required by the particular casino. I gave one example, but the requirements differ from casino to casino. Nothing is etched in stone, however, and casino personnel will be flexible. If they require $100 play for four hours, but the gambler drops $3,000 in thirty minutes and quits for the day, they're not going to hold that against him. Casino personnel understand that a quick loss may mean the end of play for a while. Basically, what they want is someone who plays steadily at fairly high stakes. It may be $50 play in one casino, or even $25 play in another, to qualify for free RFB. There are all kinds and sizes of casinos.
If you go to a casino and want a free meal, for example, speak to a floorman or someone in the pit and ask him or her to watch your play. If you are unsure of how long and at what level you must play to qualify for the meal, ask that also. You might be told that a $5 blackjack table, for example, is sufficient, if you play for two hours.
